So, it makes for a pretty dire realisation of the nature of our existence on this earth when a computer game makes you want to top yourself.
The game in question is at least, an aesthetically pleasing little 8-Bit platformer on the Newgrounds website.
It is made by AwkwardSilenceGames and has already received quite a bit of buzz here and there. I myself found out about it via Mr. Charlie Brooker’s Twitter feed.
You play a bearded-scientist who is working on a cure for a biological disease which is tearing its way through the Earth’s population, threatening to wipe out every single living organism in its path.
Happy Stuff.
The choices you make will affect the outcome of the game and the survival of yourself, your family and the wider population at large and are entirely dependent on how you play. The stickler being that you only get one chance to play. You mess up. You die. You don’t get another go. Quite harrowing really… but ultimately resonant to the actual human experience itself. We mess up the planet like we have been so far… it’ll all be fucked. Do not pass go. Do not collect ÂŁ200. Go straight to jail. Rot there.
Brilliant.
Try it yourself here.
